ABSTRACT
Presents a study which sought to investigate the role of nitric oxide in diabetic nephropathy. Capacity of bacteria to generate nitric oxide by reduction of nitrite or by oxidation of ammonia; Identification of mesangial cell as a major determinant in the regulation of glomerular filtration rate; Correlation of the development of diabetic nephropathy with the duration and magnitude of antecedent hyperglycemia.
