ABSTRACT
The article presents news related to the U.S. furniture industry as of November 8, 2004. Bedding retail specialist Sleep Country Canada Inc. will invade Winnipeg, Manitoba in the fall of 2005, opening as many us six stores simultaneously. The company also had considered expanding to Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the Montreal Quebec City corridor of Quebec. A fire damaged two finishing lines at Chinese case goods manufacturer Lacquer Craft Furniture's new complex, but the company said it will have little effect on the plant's ability to service orders. Robert Segal is joining discount retailer Big Lots Inc. as vice president, divisional merchandise manager of furniture.
