ABSTRACT
This article presents news briefs related to the insurance industry as of October 25, 2004. Zurich Financial Services Group Inc. expects to pay $525 million in claims arising from the four hurricanes that hit the United States between August and September. AXA SA has withdrawn a bid to acquire the remaining 48.3% share it does not own in AXA Asia Pacific Holdings Ltd. The deal was called off last week after AXA and a subcommittee of independent directors at Melbourne, Australia-based AXA APH failed to agree on a price.
