The article focuses on the computer graphics and the realities of marketing it to broadcasters. In a leading Japanese business publication this September, Toshiba President Tadashi Okamura said that, after some four years of development, work on the radically new Cell microprocessor is nearly complete. Designed with partners IBM and Sony, the massively parallel Cell CPU will deliver a supercomputer level of graphics creation chops while excelling at communication-intensive chores, according to Toshiba. Initial plans call for its use in an IBM workstation, Sony's next-gen PlayStation, and consumer electronics under development by Toshiba.
