ABSTRACT
This article reports that Terayon Communication Systems Inc. has introduced two cable modem termination system software upgrades designed to goose plant capacity and overall network productivity. The company's FLEXable Plant Solution aims to do this through two software elements--TDMAccelerator and dB boost. Terayon's TDMAccelerator software enables operators to extract more bandwidth out of their pool of DOCSIS 1.0 and 1.1 cable modems, and to operate DOCSIS 2.0 modems at their full capacity. TDMAccelerator is designed to automatically sort out modems capable of only running QPSK, and enable the other modems on the system to run at the faster modulation.
