The article reports that the home furnishing company Ikea UK conceded that it will have to alter its strategy, including opening smaller stores nearer town centres, if it is to realise its ambition of UK expansion. Peter Hogsted, Ikea Britain country manager, said that the company was prepared to be "very, very flexible" on store size and location. But he accused the Government of refusing to open dialogue with the company. Although Hogsted was reluctant to discuss the topic, it is understood that the chain may also introduce park and ride schemes if this eases its planning permission problems.
