ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the Jefferies Group Inc. Jefferies proved its mettle with record trading revenues at a time when even bulge-bracket giants stumbled after making bad trading bets. The firm has been trying to use its trading platform to vault itself into the top ranks of middle-market investment banking with a series of staff expansions, acquisitions and joint ventures. Jefferies' investment banking revenues have almost doubled to $247.1 million for the first nine months, compared with $130 million in 2003's third quarter.
