ABSTRACT
The article presents information on toy business in the U.S. The toy business of Toys "R" Us Inc., which consists of more than 1,200 stores in the U.S. and overseas, is smack in the middle of a lawsuit with Amazon, its online seller. And the parent company has $4.7 billion of debt, including lease obligations. The bulk of that is for the toy stores, but it's not clear whether the company can unload some of the debt onto the new owners. Given such woes, banking sources think financial buyers are the likeliest acquirers, and several are said to have looked at the company. But that has its own set of problems. First off, one of the potential bidders, the Blackstone Group, may have a conflict of interest.
