This article reports that less than a year after the Institute of IT Training launched its SkillsTracker service, some 2,000 people have taken advantage of this free, web-based service that provides a measure of what job skills individuals possess, how good these skills are, and provides proof of these measures. SkillsTracker produces a continuing professional development (CPD) record that is performance, not input based. According to a recent research, people seem to perceive only a weak link between maintaining a CPD record and their actual development. INSET: IITT seminar programme 2004-2005.
