The article informs that BCS CareerDeveloper, a new Web site-based solution from the British Computer Society, aims to help managers define, manage and develop IT skills within their organisation. Using the Skills Framework for the Information Age standard to provide consistency and traceability, BCS Career Developer enables managers to build a skills inventory for their business. It is browser-based and Internet delivered, so no software installation is required. The matrix allows industry-recognised roles to be combined to create job descriptions that will define the level and work activities required for the position, as well as the knowledge, skills and training the post-holder will need to do the job.
