New flavors, products and ideas come into play all the time, and it's up to the retailer to keep the area compelling to the customer. When it comes to fountain and frozen, many retailers pay close attention to cooler trends and adapt popular products from the cold vault into the fountain. The newest addition is energy drinks, along with new spins on original flavors and various flavor shots, allowing consumers to create their own drinks. The coffee section is also following a recent trend — consumer desire for upscale coffee-house drinks. Dunkin' Donuts Inc. introduced its new line of espresso drinks to compete, and convenience stores are responding as well.
