This article highlights the business expertise of Jeff Morris, president and CEO of Dallas-based Alon USA, a fully integrated marketing and refining enterprise. Morris had some ideas that he believed were good, but they were high-risk. When a new vice president came on board, he sent Morris to the company's largest manufacturing plant and said, "Go and try out your ideas." Morris was certain the vice president was going to call the project to a halt immediately. Morris's life experiences illustrate that a simple act of confidence and faith in another person can later influence thousands of people.
