ABSTRACT
This article presents information on environment-friendly coating processes used for the automobile industry. Environmental and regulatory pressures of the type inevitably have a knock-on effect on the application and processing of coatings, fuelling the search for technologies that can meet these challenges while maintaining--or better still improving production efficiency. Infrared is finding favour as an alternative to conventional hot-air drying in industries such as automotive. Infrared is flexible and highly responsive, able to deliver precisely the heat needed exactly when and where it is required during production. The automotive sector was one of the first to integrate infrared into its processes.
