This article reports that a Great Britain company hopes the fast emerging nanoscience sector will prompt big demand for its pioneering analysis technology, Polaron claimed its Oxford University-developed 3D Atom Probe (3DAP) is well placed to meet the growing demand for nano-scaie analysis of materials. The 3DAP maps the chemical identity and 3D position of individual atoms. According to Polaron, it is particularly adept at analysing materials containing atoms with very similar mass-to-charge ratios such as complex alloys and alloy steels.

Void nucleation is studied both experimentally and computationally with the aim of identifying a macroscopic criterion for nucleation by particle cracking. Three types of circumferentially notched cylindrical specimens made of a low-alloy steel were used, in order to vary the stress triaxiality...

This paper reports the phase transition and optical properties of the (Sb2Se3)100-xSnx (x=0, 5) films. The resistance-temperature measurements show an increase in the phase transformation temperature and no new phase has been crystallized with the addition of Sn in the parent alloy. The optical...

The thermal and mechanical properties of Mg-Gd intermetallics MgGd, MgGd2 and MgGd3 are studied using a modified analytical embedded atom method. Calculated results agree well with the available experimental data and other theoretical results. The results on the elastic constants suggest that...

The crystallization kinetics of amorphous Cu50Ti50 has been studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) under non-isothermal conditions. The curves at different linear heating rates (2, 4, 8 and 16 K min-1) show sharp crystallization peaks. The crystallization peak shifts to higher...
