ABSTRACT
This article recounts an author's experience when he visits home improvement stores in the U.S. He usually walk through the power-tool section and pay particular attention to the battery-pack voltages and chemistries being offered. The particular store he usually visits also sells large home appliances, sometimes called major appliances or majaps. The majaps are placed directly across from the power tools. And the appliances closest to the tools are the top of the line category, like washing machines. This seemed strange and out of place. The author would have put the appliances near the home decorating section. But the more he thought about it, he decided that the strategy is effective nonetheless.
