This article reports on the Institute of Management Services certificate introduced by The Harry Mitchell College in Nottingham, England in 2004. The certificate follows the guidelines laid down by the Institute's education working committee on education standards. The approach taken by the college combines the core modules specified by the Institute with updated subjects. These additions are designed to equip the modern productivity practitioner with a tool kit to face the problems of today's high-speed business world. The programme retains the traditional core skills of management services while recognizing the major shift in management thinking that has taken place over recent years. The new courses are Critical Review Methodology, Process Quantification, Process Quantification, Lean Management and Change Management. The philosophy behind the training programme remains the same. The training and education will have a strong practical bias, to ensure that the students will be able to add value to their organization at the end of the programme. The college will maintain its student centered focus providing friendly help and encouragement to attendees from all over the world. Critical Review Methodology and Process Quantification maintain the traditional skills, but incorporate up to date techniques. These core skills are those in which the Harry Mitchell College has over 50 years of experience and expertise.
