Reports that 23 persons signed the Statement of Principles of the Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals (MPAPAI). Inclusion of Sam Wood, president of the MPAPAI, who has fought against fascism by eliminating every reference to it from his film, "For Whom the Bell Tolls"; Resentment expressed by the MPAPAI on the growing impression that the industry is made up of communists, radicals and crackpots; Effort of the writers organizations of Hollywood to form the Hollywood Writers Mobilization in order to place their services at the disposal of the government for the communication of the principles necessary to unite the country in support of the war effort; Appeal made by the Free World Association of Hollywood for a strict adherence to democratic principles.
