ABSTRACT
The article reports on the efforts of Eastern Kentucky University Libraries (EKU) to advertise its services by using public relations (PR). The library created and produced PR materials which enable it to offer its services in a package wrapped with its organizational identity. The creation of the brochure established a look and feel for EKU by capturing the reality of the Libraries' environment and culture in graphics, colors, style and text. This identity, first established in the Mothership brochure and carried into the inserts, was then incorporated into a newly purchased display board and table cover designed for use at conferences and in special presentations. The Libraries then purchased marketing tools, such as pens and plastic book bags which also included elements of the organizational identity. Ultimately, the website of EKU was redesigned to incorporate colors, graphics, photos and text consistent with that of the original brochure. These tools have all been used at countless EKU functions and meetings to promote its resources and services.
