ABSTRACT
The article presents information on good carbohydrate diet for children. According to Elisa Zied, spokesperson for the American Dietic Association, a carbohydrate is the key fuel for the central nervous system and provides the brain and other body tissues with glucose. Roughly half of a child's diet should come from "good" carbohydrates. For breakfast serve the child with oatmeal, low-fat granola with sliced bananas or berries; bran or oat muffins. For the lunch serve peanut butter on whole-grain bread; black bean and cheese burrito in a wholewheat tortilla.
