ABSTRACT
In this article the author answers a query related to children's interest in learning the alphabets. She says that mastering the alphabet is an important step toward learning to read, but it can be more challenging for a young child than adults may think, and each child learns at her own pace. She says that when practicing the alphabet with one's child, it's best to avoid using flash cards or other rote drilling methods. Young children will be much more engaged in learning that involves all of their senses.
