ABSTRACT
This article presents the views of various experts about single-sex schools. Molly Fischer, a senior at the Castilleja School in Palo Alto, California, says that single-sex schools create an environment of self-confidence, where one can be uninhibited and can focus on academics. One study showed that among African-American and Hispanic students, those who attended single-sex schools scored higher on tests than their peers in coed schools. David Sadker, an education expert at American University, says that the push for single-sex schools is not being considered carefully enough and puts the quality of education at risk.
