ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the plan of musician Sufjan Stevens to create music albums. Stevens has just begun a unique musical tour of the U.S. The young writer, musician, and songwriter is plotting to create an album for each of the 50 states, capturing bittersweet tales of their beauty and heartbreaks. "Greetings From Michigan," an ode to his birth state, is the first installment. Stevens, whose other albums include "A Sun Came," "Enjoy Your Rabbit," and "Seven Swans," sees the project extending beyond his lifetime. He says that the 50-state project is a serious effort to combine history and myth and geographical color with stories in song.
