ABSTRACT
The study area is located in the western part of the Euxine subprovince of the Euro-Siberian region in Turkey. The area is bounded by Devrekani in the south and Inebolu and Abana in the north. This study to assess the vegetation of the area was based on, and interpreted according to, the Braun-Blanquet (1932) method. The following plant associations were recognized from different vegetation types in the area: I Maquis vegetation Phillyreo-Lauretum nobilis Lauro-Pinetum brutiae Ass. nova II Forest vegetation a--Deciduous forests Hedero-Castaneetum sativae Ilici-Fagetum orientalis Carpino-Quercetum petraeae Ass. nova b--Pine forestsMercurialo-Abietetum bornmuellerianae Ass. nova From the phytosociological point of view, the forest communities of the vegetation can be included in the orders Querco-Carpinetalia orientalis and Rhododendro-Fagetalia orientalis, class of Querco-Fagetea, and superclass of Querco-Fagea. Maquis vegetation, which is accepted as relicts of the old Mediterranean region in the Euxine district, consists of Mediterranean elements and is included in the order Quercetalia ilicis and class of Quercetea ilicis.
