The article reports that at TV's Emmy night, Home Box Office (HBO), the premium service, led the pack with 124 primetime nominations, grabbed 16 trophies on September 19. Coupled with its matching haul of Creative Arts awards the previous week, HBO easily topped the network ranks in which Fox was second with 10 and NBC third with eight. HBO's previous best Emmy take: 24 in 2002. Leading the way was miniseries "Angels in America" and pay TV's two biggest hit series, "The Sopranos" and "Sex and the City." "Angels in America," the miniseries of adaptation of Tony Kushner's Pulitzer Prize-winning play about the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, grabbed seven statues at the 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
