Academic Journal
This section presents the message by Deputy Chairman David Blanchflower of the Institute of Management Services' Council of Management about the journal Management Services. In the journal, you will find comprehensive details of the resolutions you are being asked to vote on together with a proxy form to cast vote if you are unable to personally attend the annual general meeting in Lichfield, England on October 8, 2004. Since 1965 the journal has been produced on a monthly basis and has served well as the voice of the Institute. In the early days the large income generated from job adverts made a major financial contribution towards the cost of producing the journal. A review of the journal and its content indicates that they could provide the same number of pages of technical articles in a smaller number of journals at greatly reduced cost. Hence the decision to outsource the production of the journal to a freelance editor and to produce three or four issues per year that contain the same technical content as the present twelve issues. Naturally the page content of each of the new format journal would be higher than the 36 pages in the current journal. This decision is no way reflects on the ability or past work of David Charlton and Janet Smith in producing the journal who sadly will be made redundant.
