Three Canons a' firing

September 2004
Management Services;Sep2004, Vol. 48 Issue 9, p25
This article provides information on three announcements from Canon which cover much of the company's sales spectrum. First is an entry-level scanner, the flatbed CanoScan LiDE 35. Canon's LiDE sensor technology fits into a thin 38mm body delivering 1200 x 2400 dpi scanning at 48-bit color depth. The scanner also features QARE Level 2 dust and scratch removal, fast scan speeds and a comprehensive software package. Drawing all the power it needs from its USB 2.0 High-Speed interface, the CanoScan LiDE 35 dispenses with the need for untidy power cables. Next comes an entry to the multi-function market, two laser All-in-One peripherals, the LaserBase MF5630 and LaserBase MF5650. Both are laser printers copiers, color scanners and both have 50 auto document feeders. The MF5650 also includes a fax unit. Finally, more bubble jets, again aimed at the need for low cost faxes, the FAX-B820 and B840. Both have 15-page auto document feed, 120-page fax memory, UCanTalk voice recognition dialling, 9x OneTouch and 70 Coded Speed Dials. They use Canon's Ultra High Quality (UHQ) image processing technology for crisp images even when faxing documents with photos and heavy graphics. UHQ allows half-tone reproduction in 64 shades of grey and an edge enhancement feature to detect and gradual changes in image density.
