ABSTRACT
This article presents information on the book "The Great Goldwyn," by Alav Johnston. This is a biography of U.S. motion picture producer Sam Goldwyn. This book has made the author slightly sick. It has the slave brand of Hollywood upon it. Instead of being able simply to present Sam Goldwyn as the rich humorous character he undoubtedly is with whatever credit for energy and enterprise he deserves, Johnston seems to feel forced to flatter him. Johnston, who is an adept at this kind of personal sketch, has handled his subject with deftness. He has turned out a good piece of light reading, in which the Goldwyn gags are sprinkled in such a way as to give the whole story a certain comic sparkle.
