ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the books "Guilty or Not Guilty?" and "Prisoner at the Bar," by Francis X. Busch. Most persons recognize the role of juries in determining the guilt or innocence of a defendant accused of crime, but a far smaller number think of the jury as a defender of constitutional freedoms as well. Recognizing this potential of the jury system as a trier of fact and a participant in the courtroom protection of civil liberties, two books by the noted trial lawyer, Francis X. Busch, are of special interest.
