ABSTRACT
This article presents information on the book "In Defense of Mothers," by Leo Kanner. The author seems to prove the old adage wrong, namely that psychiatrists are "dry" and lack any sense of humor. Already the subtitle, "or how to bring up children in spite of the more zealous psychologists," may be a case in point. Every lay person these days speaks of the Freudian "Unconscious" as he does of the atomic bomb, without of course being a psychiatrist or a physicist respectively. The "good" mother, therefore, far back in the jungle of her mind, where the God Unconscious leads a hidden existence.
