ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the book "Chicago: The Second City," by A.J. Liebling. The reviewer comments that although Philistinism and provincialism was part of the book, nevertheless it was given only the passing reference. The author describes about his childhood memories of the city Chicago. He describes various events associated with his life experiences. Liebling writes well, in the New Yorker's well-known neutrally satiric vein, and Steinberg's drawings strike home hilariously to help the book give a final knife-twist to the book. The book offers enough perception and attractive cantankerousness to his book to make it excellent reading.
