ABSTRACT
The article discusses the approach of two presidential candidates, Adlai Stevenson and Dwight D. Eisenhower for the impending U.S. presidential elections. Both candidates are under pressure to attack each other. Both face the same challenge to formulate in positive terms better policies than those of the last four years. For Eisenhower that assignment is hard. He must initiate new ideas. Stevenson's ambition is that Democrats, "win or lose" will approach the 1952 campaign as "a great opportunity to educate and elevate a people whose destiny is leadership of a world in ferment."
