ABSTRACT
This article presents information about the book "U.S. Grant and the American Military Tradition," by Bruce Catton. Although it is the first title in the Library of American Biography that author Oscar Handlin is editing, it is not a biography.in the sunset's afterglow. This is the story of a fine soldier and a true patriot inveigled by wily politicians into taking a job which he did not understand and for which he had no natural talent. He turned to the wrong advisers as, considering his experience, he was almost bound to turn.
