The article focuses on the book "The Alice B. Toklas Cookbook," illustrated by Sir Francis Rose. It asserts that Toklas' book should not be considered as heavy handed, rather she is far too witty and appreciative of the Parisian touch-and-go. The book contains 350-odd recipes which are deftly folded. She has too much respect for her materials, magnificent cook, that she is, ever to treat them other than lightly. The attitude towards cooking as a culture occurred in France and China while on this score American women are failing.
