Presidential Miracle

This article presents information on the book "Presidential Nominating Politics in 1952," by Paul T. David. Of American contributions to the art of government, the Presidency ranks perhaps as the most notable. Elsewhere the well defined processes of parliamentary politics govern the choice of chief executives; they both limit the field and test and reject those whose aim is the Prime Ministry. Or it could be interpreted as evidence of the excellence of arrangements for the choice of Presidents. A critical element in these arrangements is the means for sifting possibilities for the Presidency down to a pair of contenders, each acceptable to the principal elements of his own party.
