ABSTRACT
The article focuses on two books: Drinking in college, by Robert Straus and Seldon D. Bacon and Letters on Art and Literature, by Francois Mauriac. Drinking in College is an intelligent and thorough study of fascinating subject, with only the customary obtrusive but necessary tables to limit its attractiveness. Those who like to hear Mauriac preach the virtues of Catholicism in general and his own tenets in particular will enjoy the book Letters on Art and Literature more than those who, misled by the title, are curious about his artistic views. Of the latter, there is little mention; indeed, each letter is almost a tract.
