ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the book "The Worldly Philosophers," by Robert L. Heilbroner. The title is based upon the supposition that the true philosophers are pretty much committed to the theory that this world is but a vale of woe and heaven is our home; but the economists, while not disputing the woefulness of things, are impelled to consider the here and now. "The Worldly Philosophers," is a light book, but it is one that was made light by terrifically hard labor. The pictures of the economists as men are brilliant, and the estimates of their work are substantially correct and highly plausible.
