The article focuses on the book "Critics and Criticism," edited by R.S. Crane. Critics and Criticism is a collection of twenty essays from the writings on critical theory and method of a group of friends who came to know one another at the University of Chicago, Illinois, in the middle thirties and who have since carried on, in numerous conversations, the exchange of ideas on these and related questions which began at that time. Only six of the essays are new, but the volume, reinforced and illuminated by Crane's liberal introduction, presents for the first time a complete picture of the "Chicago school."
