ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the book "Man and His Gods," by Homer Smith. Anthropologists and dedicated students of the field frequently resent the intrusion of brilliant laymen, and it is always embarrassing when one establishes himself as an authority. His book is a brilliant exposition of knowledge and attitudes which have been current for fifty years, although, so far as he can see, Smith has contributed no new ideas to the study of religious practices. The main value of the book is its detailed information, some of which is omitted in such popular studies.
