ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the book "Duveen," by S. N. Behrman. The book has a certain social-historical value. It is sure to become a favorite topic of conversation not as a piece of literature but as the subject of rich gossip and debate. This gives the book an intelligently modern and liberal tone. But the relish of the telling makes it evident that what Behrman, like the majority of his readers, enjoys, most is the splendor, confidence, ease, largesse, craziness and gay confusion of the Duveen story and epoch as a spectacle with almost secretly nostalgic overtones.
