ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the book "Let It Come Down," by Paul Bowles. The scene of Paul Bowles' second novel is set primarily in Morocco, is written in the same lucid and laconic style, and contains its quota of shocking episodes and acts of violence. Nelson Dyer, tired of his job as a minor bank teller in New York, accepts an undefined position in a traveling agency in Morocco run by a former friend. A synopsis of plot is, of course, no true indication of the quality which a work may prove. Most modern novelists have used violence or shock as metaphors to give tension to their theme or to heighten its meaning.
