ABSTRACT
The article focuses on prevailing political conditions in various countries, as of November 14, 1955. The situation in the Near East has taken a twist that could not have been foreseen hence the plans that the U.S. President Harry S. Truman laid out have become obsolete as far as that part of the world is concerned. The grand strategy is unchanged, but new tactics must be devised to meet the new situation. If the Republican Party has any leadership other than that of the U.S. President Dwight David Eisenhower, it must show it now and show it quickly. In Indonesia the Administration could not find any means adapted to that situation and Indonesia almost went down the drain.
