ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the author's experiences of war. However, recent events have created in me an evergrowing compulsion to pull out my barracks-bag of memories and join the minstrels. I do not wish to be misunderstood, I am not joining the Legion or VFW, and I am certainly not going to march in any parades. But the recent burst of headlines about my old alma mater, the Army Information-Education Program, has led me to compromise my principles and set down the chronicle. The war to me was a great stretch of empty time, broken by sporadic fits of activity, in which I lived an essentially vegetable existence.
