Another Partition of Israel?

Alan, Ray
April 1955
New Republic;4/11/55, Vol. 132 Issue 15, p17
The article discusses the political crisis in Israel. Negev, Israel, has been coveted by Jordanian leaders since 1948. The "British Labour Government," Great Britain, had already decided that control of the Negev was desirable for the maintenance of land communications between its bases in the Suez Canal Zone, Egypt, and eastern Jordan, and was so confident of salvaging it from the wreckage of the Palestine mandate that it spent over 10 million dollars on the preparation of camp and barrack sites in the vicinity of Gaza and Ashcalon in the Negev.
