ABSTRACT
This article presents information on the book "Freedom or Death," by Nikos Kazantzakis. The book cover declares it a "new novel"; but publishers are apt to be rather cagy about revealing just how old a newly translated work is, knowing the public's resolve to have only the "latest thing"--that is, of course, provided that it is really the same old stuff. The latter qualification Kazantzakis' book lives up to; and perhaps it fills the bill in the former regard, too, though that is harder to believe.

  • ZORBA EL GRIEGO NIKOS KAZANTZAKIS. Bauzá, Hugo Francisco // Byzantion Nea Hellás;2005, Issue 24, p261

In the novel "Zorba, the Greek" Nikos Kazantzakis invites to give up a perspective only rational and to accept life in an emotional way. In that sense, in face an apollinean lecture of vital, Zorba proposes, however, a dionysiac line that eulogizes the supreme values of human nature.
