Pennsylvania County Adds Disputed Swap Fees to Budget

The article reports that, the Northampton County, Pennsylvania Council on Thursday passed a budget amendment that included fees to be paid to two firms involved in an ongoing feud with the council over work performed on the county's swaption deal with Merrill Lynch & Co. in June. Northampton County district attorney John Morganelli is examining possible inappropriate relationships surrounding the swaption. The concerns center around allegations that the deal was not competitively bid for because of relationships between officials of the county and the firms involved.
