ABSTRACT
The republican leadership recruited Democratic Assemblyman Steve Kaufman to cross the aisle and run for the vacant Bronx-Westchester state Senate seat. But the leadership has failed to clear the field, as expected, for Kaufman. Kaufman is likely to lose to Bronx Assemblyman Jeff Klein in the Democratic race, but he is favored against John Fleming, a retired New York City police detective, in the Republican and Conservative primaries. Former U.S. Representative George Hochbrueckner has registered to lobby for General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, which is proposing an E-Smart Threat Agent Network for the Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island.
