This article reports on the British of Institute of Management Services Council of Management meeting held on May 14, 2004 at Stowe House, England. Council formally accepted the resignation of Ron Leeman and Graham Briscoe and unanimously endorsed the co-option of Les Rose and Geoff Mansfield to fill these vacancies. The Treasurer reported that the 2003 report and accounts were almost finalised and these would be published in the September journal in preparation for the Institute's Annual General Meeting on 8 October at 10.00am. A Council meeting will follow the Annual General Meeting. Following a renegotiation with Royal Bank of Scotland the Institute will no longer pay bank charges. Also due to our reducing membership the provision of the Institute's information service by the Chartered Management Institute has been renegotiated with a saving of £2000 per year. It was further agreed to review the investment strategy for the Institute's reserves going forward to ensure the most favourable return. The Institute has archives stored in several locations and Les Rose has agreed to undertake a review of the existing policy and make recommendations to ensure that the heritage of the Institute is protected. Harry Downes reported that the review of the Institute's education policy was progressing at pace and that proposals are well advanced and had been well received by the Colleges/providers. Harry will give a detailed report in the September journal.
