The Fourth Annual Conference of the Institute of Management Consultancy was held at the Carlton Tower, London, England at the end of March 2004 with the theme, The Consultancy Forum: Standing out in a Crowded Market. This two-day event was a highly practical conference with a number of excellent speakers. It not only provided a key forum for discussion between various consultancy firms, but also for great networking opportunities. The main objective of the conference was to air the strategies for consultants to differentiate themselves and to impress increasingly sophisticated clients. Delegates were told that as we move towards economic recovery, opportunities for growth are fast developing. The Consultancy industry is a growing knowledge based international industry that makes a significant contribution to organisational change and innovation. Today's consultants in this and other industries operate in a very different business environment to that of their predecessors. Clearly, firms need to enhance their abilities to respond quickly and effectively to market opportunities and economic pressures and finding the right strategy of reacting to market changes is becoming crucial to any consultancy firm.
