ABSTRACT
On a recent evening, Oakland based architect Walter Hood spoke at the Arsenal Gallery in Central Park, as part of the Parks Department's "Uncommon Ground" series. The sixth speaker to appear as a guest in the department's lecture program, he is a North Carolina native and professor of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at the University of California, Berkeley. As the principal of Hood Design, Walter Hood has quickly emerged as a modern successor to the legacy of Frederick Law Olmsted, designer of Central Park, among many other sites.
