X Filme marks 10-year milestone

Berlin-based X Filme Creative Pool GmbH turned 10 years old this week remains a primary port of call for international acquisitions executives. But, most impressively in a territory littered with remains of once-great film companies, X Filme has survived the collapse of the German market to emerge as the country's strongest producer-distributor dedicated to product outside the mainstream. Instead, X Filme decided to make art house films that wore their German origins like a badge of pride. X Filme also chose the risky tack of eschewing genre films and established stars for first-time directors.
